What makes a good Perler bead pattern?
A good Perler pattern needs three things: colors that actually exist as Perler beads, a grid that fits your pegboards, and a count of how many beads of each color you'll place. BeadFuse handles all three — it matches your photo against the full 103-color Perler line using measured bead colors, splits large designs into standard 29×29 board sections, and totals every color for your shopping list.
Because matching runs in Lab color space with the CIEDE2000 formula, subtle shades land on the Perler color a human would pick — Butterscotch instead of a wrong orange, Evergreen instead of a muddy dark green.
How to make a Perler bead pattern from a photo
- 1
Upload your image
Photos, drawings, or sprites. For crisp results with pixel art, use images with flat colors and clean outlines.
- 2
Pick your Perler settings
Choose pattern width in beads (a single Perler board is 29 pegs across), merge similar shades, and exclude colors you don't own.
- 3
Print your pegboard chart
Download a free PDF split into labeled board sections with row/column coordinates and a full Perler color legend.
Perler-specific features
The full Perler palette
All 103 colors with community-measured RGB values — including tricky neighbors like Cheddar vs Yellow and Toothpaste vs Robin's Egg.
Standard board sections
Patterns wider than one board split into 29×29 sections labeled A1, B1… exactly how you'll lay out your pegboards.
Bead counts per color
Perler beads come in bags of about 1,000 — the count tells you exactly which colors need a restock before you start.
Only-my-colors mode
Own a 4,000-bead bucket with a limited palette? Exclude what you don't have and the whole pattern re-matches in one click.
Anti-halo edges
Dominant-color sampling keeps character outlines sharp instead of producing the dark fringe cheap converters create.

Perler pattern questions
How many beads fit on a Perler pegboard?
The standard large square Perler pegboard is 29×29 pegs — 841 beads when full. BeadFuse splits bigger patterns into these sections automatically.
Can I use the pattern with other 5mm fuse beads?
Yes. The chart works with any 5mm bead (Hama, Artkal, generic buckets) — switch the color system to Hama if that's what you own, so the color names match your stash.
Is BeadFuse really free?
Yes. Converting photos, matching bead colors, and downloading the PDF chart are free with no account and no watermark. We plan to add optional Pro features later, but the core converter stays free.
Does my photo get uploaded to a server?
No. The whole conversion runs inside your browser — your photo never leaves your device. That's also why the sliders feel instant.
What do I get in the PDF?
A cover page with a preview, one page per pegboard section (with row and column numbers so you can follow along), and a legend page with every color's code, name, and exact bead count.
